What a way to end 2006 .... 5.0m weather, cross-on, nice ramps, decent waves to backside wiggle on (though not as clean as yesterday) and loads of us out having a good time.
In all fairness, my session started not so well, as I'd opted for the Pocket Wave 78 & Manic 5.0m combo but hadn't taken the rip into account .... it was a proper bast*rd and was not suiting my heavy back foot technique ... gotta get lighter on that back foot. Had a few goes and ended up spat back out 3-4 beaches downwind each time, though I did get progressively further out before being taken down.
Saw the light and went and grabbed the 3S97 and instantly transformed my session .... straight up and out, jumps on the way out, rides on the way back. Wind filled in a bit so tweaked on more outhaul and carried on with the 3S97 / 5.0m Manic combo until too tired to play any more. Was tempted to grab the Pocket Wave when wind filled in, but thought I'd just stick it out with the 3S .... reckon I must be getting lazy, but still had a sweet session even though I was 'technically' over-boarded.
That's goodbye 2006 .... lets hope 2007 picks up where 2006 left off ... have a good one, one and all.
